Queenstown is a very scenic location with its alpine lake and mountains – depending on the time of day, the character changes quite dramatically. I spent a thorough morning assembling photo reference at the vacant site in order to capture the light with low sun and translate this feel into the fly-through movie.

the scenery in the fly-through changes dynamically so as not to create a false impression that all units can see the lake

The lake is visible from the top of the upper tier of apartments, while from the lower tier its occluded by trees. So with this in mind, the scenery in the fly-through changes dynamically so as not to create a false impression that all units can see the lake. The camera moves are carefully controlled to ‘freely’ roam around the site but not be jarring or unnatural. The modelling of the units evolved during the project; so as well as a marketing tool for the development, the project also served as a design tool for the developers.
